Overview
Green City was a New York City-based company that set out with the ambitious objective to create better, more sustainable urban environments. By strategically utilizing underutilized square footage on top of buildings, the company unlocked hidden potential within the city's concrete jungle. Their mission focused heavily on transforming neglected rooftops into thriving, eco-friendly assets, proving that urban density did not have to come at the expense of nature.
The visual narrative for Green City was designed to explicitly illustrate the vital importance of green areas within dense urban environments. The central graphic concept emerged from the powerful idea that cities could be completely transformed and colorfully revitalized by the introduction of green spaces. This narrative came to life through two contrasting yet harmonious visual components: fluid gradients that metaphorically metamorphosed rigid cities into lush urban forests, and sharp, structured grids that represented the iconic blocks of the metropolis.
The design process evolved by finding a balance between the organic chaos of nature and the strict geometry of urban architecture. Designers integrated these two conflicting worlds by layering vibrant, transformative color gradients directly over rigid, grid-like layouts. This evolution successfully shifted the brand identity from a standard corporate look into a dynamic visual ecosystem, beautifully capturing the company’s core philosophy of weaving nature seamlessly into the existing fabric of a modern metropolis.
